1. Who We Are

Turfside ("we", "us", "our") is a group coordination platform for recreational sports teams. Our contact address is hello@turfside.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our service at turfside.app.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:

• Name and email address — provided when you create an account, used to identify you within your group.
• Attendance records — whether you marked yourself as attending, out, or on the waiting list for a match.
• Payment records — match cost contributions, if your group has payment tracking enabled.
• Usage data — basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) retained for security purposes.
• Aggregated analytics — page views, referrer, device type, and approximate country (derived from IP, which is never stored). This data is anonymous and cannot be linked to an individual.

We do not collect payment card details, location data, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the Turfside service
• To display your name and attendance to other members of your group
• To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification) via our auth provider
• To respond to support requests sent to our contact email

Our lawful basis for processing is the performance of a contract — you provide your data in order to use the service you signed up for.

4. Third Parties We Use

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate Turfside:

• Clerk — handles authentication, user accounts, and session management. Your email and name are stored with Clerk.
• Neon / PostgreSQL — hosts our database, which stores your attendance and group data.
• Vercel — hosts the application, processes web requests, and provides cookieless analytics (page views, device type, approximate country). No IP addresses are stored by Vercel Analytics.
• Cloudflare — provides DNS and domain services.

We do not sell your data to any third party, and we do not use your data for advertising.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies only. These are set by our authentication provider (Clerk) to maintain your login session. No analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies are used. Because these cookies are essential to the service, they do not require your consent under applicable law.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data (name, email) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your name and email are immediately anonymised and your login access is revoked. Anonymised historical records (attendance counts, match history) are retained to preserve the integrity of group history.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Erasure — delete your account and personal data at any time from your Profile page.
• Rectification — update your name or email via your account settings.
• Portability — request an export of your data by contacting us at hello@turfside.app.
• Object — object to processing by contacting us. In most cases this will result in account deletion.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), token-based authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

9. Children

Turfside is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
